Meet Wuffy
Wuffy began in 2017 because we wanted better treats for our dogs, Gaia and Bailey.
Gaia had a grain allergy and corn seemed to make her increasingly itchy. At the same time, Bailey was getting older and facing health challenges of her own, and we had been encouraged to pay closer attention to her diet. So we started reading dog treat labels more carefully. We found long ingredient lists, chemical preservatives, fillers, and ingredients we didn’t recognize. We knew dog treats could be simpler.
So we started making our own.
From Our Brooklyn Apartment to the Farmers Market
At the time, Ash was walking dogs in Brooklyn and baking treats in our Park Slope apartment. She began sharing them with the dogs she cared for. The dogs loved them, their people asked for more, and Wuffy began to grow.
We started selling at the Park Slope Farmers Market and later moved production into a commercial kitchen in Sunset Park.
We are both originally from Wisconsin, so when work brought us back home, Wuffy came with us. We built a loyal community of customers there, many of whom still support us today.
A recent move brought us to New York’s Hudson Valley, where Wuffy found its current home.
Made Today in Stone Ridge, New York
Today, we make Wuffy treats in small batches in the Hudson Valley, specifally in Stone Ridge. Our treats are baked fresh, dehydrated, or freeze-dried using simple, recognizable ingredients.
We keep our signature recipes to five ingredients or less and never use artifical preservatives. Some treats are shipped shortly after they are made, while others are frozen to preserve their freshness naturally until they are ready to ship.
We still sell directly to customers at farmers markets, where we get to meet the dogs enjoying our treats and the people who love them. Find us twice monthly at the farmer's markets in Woodstock and Rosendale, NY.
Our approach to business is pretty simple:
Do the right thing. Make a really good treat. Charge a fair price. Treat people well. Leave things better than you found them.
That means being honest about our ingredients, making treats with care, creating good jobs (when it's time to start hiring), and growing Wuffy without losing what made it special in the first place.
Dogs Helping Dogs
Wuffy began with one dog, but our responsibility doesn’t stop with the dogs in our own homes.
We regularly support local shelters, rescues, and organizations helping dogs in need. Every purchase helps us continue giving back and caring for dogs beyond our own.
From Our Dogs to Yours
Wisconsin gave us our roots. Brooklyn is where Wuffy began. The Hudson Valley is where we are building its future.
Through every move, the idea behind Wuffy has stayed the same: make simple, fresh treats that dogs love and their people feel good about giving them.
